Protecting your inner peace

Updated: Aug 30, 2020

I hope your first week into the new month has been a positive one so far. I know these continue to be challenging times. I decided to take this opportunity to expand on inner strength and peace. As life continues to be uncertain, remember the only two things that you can control are your effort and your attitude. How you respond is where your true power is. It is truly amazing how the mind works. We all individually have are own internal battles right now and it can be challenging finding that inner peace when there is no end in sight to the current situation that we are in.

The one thing I have truly embraced in all this is acceptance. For example, instead of giving power to thoughts of negativity, give power to thoughts of love and understanding. Remind yourself that it is okay to go through different phases of emotions. You are human and certain emotions need to be felt in order to continue the healing process and grow. Let me dive a little deeper with this.

In my early 20s, I used to let negative thoughts from my past completely take over. I would re-play the same scenario over and over again. As a result, I couldn't move on and I would feel stuck. It was destructive until I finally realized that I had a choice. It wasn't until later on in life that I embraced self-love and shifted my energy to the things that brought me joy. Right now, instead of focusing on what I'm missing, I'm focusing on what I'm learning. As tough as everything may feel right now, I empower you to embrace the present moment. Stay in the now and focus on what you can positively do for yourself to protect your inner peace.

This might mean more time for meditation or yoga. I know it sure has been for me. Hiking has also been a great avenue. For some of you it might be working out daily or reading a good book. There is no right or wrong answer. You have the power to decide which direction your day is going to go. Sending strength your way as we continue to maneuver life in these challenging times.
